Over the years, Durrant’s has witnessed many fascinating moments, and some of them remain fresh in our collective memory. One of our most amusing anecdotes dates back to July 1961. On a particularly hot summer day, a scruffy young man wandered into the Spy Lounge, admiring the artwork.
Unimpressed by his attire and demeanour, Mr. Miller Senior politely declined his request to stay, only to later discover that he’d turned away none other than Andy Warhol, one of the most celebrated artists of the 20th century.
Times—and dress codes—have changed since then. Today, we embrace art and creativity in all its forms, housing a collection of over 70 original artworks throughout the hotel. From classic portraits to modern pieces, and even a touch of taxidermy, our collection reflects the diverse eras of Durrants’ history.
